Professional Instruction: Learn from a certified instructor using the Bb Talking intercom system for clear, real-time communication—even in windy conditions.
Ideal for Beginners: Lessons take place in flat water locations, making it easier and safer to learn the basics.
Group Learning: Benefit from a group setting where you can learn from each other’s experiences and take breaks as needed.
Lesson Details:
This two-person group lesson lasts 4–6 hours. It’s perfect for your first kiteboarding experience, especially if you want to learn the water start and spend quality time on the water with an experienced instructor. This lesson is designed for those committed to learning and getting up and riding.
What You’ll Learn:
Essential kite skills, including figure-eights, body dragging, and board retrieval
Board skills and how to combine them with kite control
Water start theory and practice
How to body drag downwind and upwind, and retrieve your board in deeper water
Safety procedures and self-rescue techniques
Group Advantage:
Learning in a group allows you to observe and learn from others’ mistakes, accelerating your progress.
Requirements:
Signed waiver and declaration of fitness forms (bring two printed copies or email a photo of your signed forms to vboceanvibes@gmail.com)
Wetsuit booties (minimum 3mm thick, Cressi recommended)
Please provide your waist size so we can bring the right harness
Minors must have a parent sign the parental consent form
Locations:
Lessons are offered throughout the Hampton Roads area, including:
Bell Isle Marina (flat water, best for beginners)
Messick Point in Poquoson
First Landing State Park
88th Street, Virginia Beach
Sandbridge (south of the pier)
Lessons are only held in winds above 12 knots. If conditions are not suitable, we will reschedule or refund your lesson.
Safety Gear Provided:
Helmet and lifejacket included.
